Il Lago di Cavazzo o dei Tre Comuni

È il più grande lago naturale del Friuli ed è immerso in un affascinante paesaggio incontaminato, ricco di boschi, pascoli e di specie floreali endemiche che costituiscono un richiamo naturale per una grande varietà di farfalle. Questa ricchezza rende questo territorio unico nel suo genere.

UN TERRITORIO PER TUTTE LE STAGIONI, DA SCOPRIRE ED ASSAPORARE SENZA FRETTA, SENZA TRALASCIARE NULLA PER CONSERVARE A LUNGO IL GUSTO DI UN’ESPERIENZA UNICA. IL VERDE DELL’AMBIENTE, IL CANTO DEGLI UCCELLI, LO SCIABORDIO DELLE ACQUE, SONO UNA TERAPIA DI NOTEVOLE EFFICACIA PER CHI VUOLE TROVARE UN PO’ DI PACE E DI SERENITÀ.

Il Lago, oltre ad una vacanza attiva con gli sport nautici, dalla vela alla pesca, e a quelli d’aria, come il parapendio, consente splendide camminate lungo le sue rive: il birdwatching e la frequentazione del “percorso vita” del parco giochi, lunghe corse su piste ciclabili e su strade poco trafficate.
Sono possibili anche escursioni su facili sentieri e mulattiere per raggiungere luoghi panoramici, come il M. Festa con il suo forte, e vere oasi di pace e indimenticabili occasioni d’incontro con fauna e flora, come il M. Corno, la Forchia Amula, il M. S. Simeone e la palude Vuarbis.

Storia e cultura

Imperdibili sono il Parco botanico di Interneppo, che nel suo Centro visite ospita il museo della pesca ed altre mostre occasionali. A Bordano si possono ammirare i murales, ma è emozionante la visita alla Casa delle Farfalle. Merita una visita la Pieve di S. Stefano a Cesclans che sorge sulla rupe che domina il lago. Visitabili sono anche il Museo del Forte del M. Festa a Cavazzo e la chiesetta di S. Michele dei pagani a Braulins.
Su prenotazione inoltre è possibile accedere alla Centrale idroelettrica di Somplago.

Manifestazioni

Non mancano le occasioni per far festa e gustare i piatti della tradizione friulana e di quella lacustre, dalle piccole sagre dei borghi alle manifestazioni come la “Festa del lampone e del mirtillo” di Avasinis e la “Festa del pesce” a Somplago.
L’estate si colora di eventi e occasioni d’incontro: il 14 agosto il lago farà da splendida cornice al suggestivo e tradizionale spettacolo pirotecnico.

Ospitalità

L’ospitalità è rappresentata da due campeggi molto belli ed attrezzati, posizionati lungo la riva ovest del lago e da quella alberghiera e della ristorazione presente nei territori dei tre comuni rivieraschi.

Nei paraggi

I dintorni offrono opportunità di visite dei centri medioevali di Venzone e Gemona, la fortezza napoleonica di Osoppo, la riserva naturale del laghetto di Cornino dove nidificano i grifoni.

Lago di Cavazzo or dei Tre Comuni

This is the largest natural lake in the Friuli region and it is situated in a captivating, unspoilt landscape, surrounded by woods, pastures and endemic species of flora which attract a large variety of butterflies.
This rich environment makes the area a truly unique site.

THE AREA CAN BE ENJOYED YEAR ROUND. IT IS WORTH TAKING THE TIME TO DISCOVER AND SAVOUR IT IN ITS ENTIRETY TO COME AWAY WITH MEMORIES OF AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME. THE GREENERY, THE BIRDSONG, THE GENTLE LAPPING OF THE WATER PROVIDE THE PERFECT HAVEN FOR ANYONE SEEKING PEACE AND TRANQUILLITY.

As well as being the ideal base for holidays involving activities, such as sailing, fishing and paragliding, the lake offers lovely walks along its shore, birdwatching, an outdoor gym, and bike rides along cycle paths and on quiet roads.

There are also easy walking trails and old mule paths which lead to panoramic spots, such as M. Festa and its fort, and oases of peace and unforgettable encounters with nature, such as M. Corno, Forchia Amula, M. S. Simeone and the Vuarbis wetlands.

History and culture

The Interneppo Botanic Park is not to be missed and its visitors centre is also home to a museum dedicated to fishing and various temporary exhibitions. Visitors to Bordano can admire murals painted on the walls of buildings and visit the enchanting Butterfly House. It’s worth visiting the parish church of San Stefano in Cesclans perched on a cliff overlooking the lake. Other attractions include the Museum of the Monte Festa Fort in Cavazzo and the chapel of San Michele dei pagani in Braulins. Visitors can also tour the Somplago hydroelectric plant when booked in advance.

Events

There are numerous opportunities to have fun and try out food from the lake and local area at small village fairs or bigger festivals such as the “Raspberry and Blueberry Fair” in Avasinis and the “Fish Fair” in Somplago.

The summer hosts numerous events and happenings and on August 14th the lake is the splendid setting for a traditional and evocative firework dislay.

Sleep & eat

There are two lovely well-equipped campsites located along the western shore of the lake and hotels, bars and restaurants dotted around the three municipalities which border the lake.

Nearby

The surrounding area is home to the medieval towns of Venzone and Gemona, the Napoleonic fort of Osoppo and the nature reserve at Lake Cornino where griffon vultures nest.
